Exercise #8: Stopping Denial As You Decide What To Do Next: 

In this exercise you will be asked to decide what you are going to do next.  You can decide to stay in denial and pretend your problems donít exist or you can decide to recognize you problems and enter appropriate treatment so you can learn to effectively manage your alcohol and drug problems and get your life back on track.

1.         What are the problems that caused you to seek help?: 

2.         How is your alcohol and other drug use related to those problems?

3.         Do you believe that you can successfully deal with those problems if you stopped using alcohol and other drugs, at least for a limited period of time?  Please explain your answer.

4.         Are you willing to make a commitment to get the help that you need to stop using alcohol and other drugs?? Please explain your answer.

5.         Now letís complete the two part denial check using the Denial Self-Monitoring Form.
